Poems from my Merriam-Webster Word of the Day project. For more information, look here.

repartee : a succession or interchange of clever retorts : amusing and usually light sparring with words

Pepper and sugar
in human form. Two best friends
who dish repartee
so light and so delicious
we ask for second helpings.

tanka 403 : 3/5/23

symbiosis : a cooperative relationship (as between two persons or groups)

Salt and sweet
Childhood through old age
Always friends
We live our
unlikely symbiosis
decades. And counting.

shadorma 515 : 3/23/23

carp : to find fault or complain querulously

long years together
must make up for the carping
the two old friends smile
