  1. This poem speaks to the desire to keep everyone in only 2 dimensions – no details to round them out as individuals. It is safer and lonelier that way….

    • I often hear how photographs flatten a scene (when people are talking about painting or drawing from photos). I guess this is so, you have to “re-inflate” it to capture the 3D-ness of it, I find, you need to remember the scene feels in person. I feel like this person here, as you say, only wants to be a photograph, not a a scene in actual life. And I think you are right, it can be quite lonely if you do this.

    • The camera turns everyone into flat objects (so we are told in art classes and I see why they say that though I also don’t see why anyone doesn’t see past that, but that is another story for another day) and I think eventually you might start to believe you are flat, yourself!
