No footprints
defile the carpet
But I see
a small mouse
stretched out stone dead center. So –
ghost cat strikes again.

That last one made me laugh.
My cat (who talks of course) says, “but I’m starving!”
And of course he does. And you understand perfectly. That right there is what makes the whole cat population of the world a power just biding its time…

It would have to be a ghost cat in my house because both of my cats are inept mousers. The last poem made me chuckle. Once again, you nail that cat behaviour.
Thank you. Our cat is good at catching mice and I really give him credit since he does it one-eyed and with a gimpy hip. Most of our cats have been good at it, but I think my first cat was the best – or maybe my apartment building at the time just offered a lot of opportunity.
