Here are some haiku that were written back last summer. They’ve been sitting around waiting. I don’t know why it’s taken so long to get them here.
Haiku 1232
midnight at the store
the mannequins drink coffee
try the new lipsticks

Haiku 1233
charming neighborhood
street signs spell out the question
who invited you?

Haiku 1234
inside these stories
built more solidly than life
many took refuge

Haiku 1235
sparkling kitchen sink
a perfect suburban home
step outside and scream

Life without humans watching…I’m sure it exists. (K)
I have always thought so and to be honest have been surprised that most people don’t seem to share this feeling! There is a lot going on in this world we miss or simply just can’t comprehend.
I totally agree.
There was a Canadian (I think) children’s show on PBS when my kids were little about a department store where the mannequins all came alive every night after store hours.
Wow, I would love to see it. I will do a little research, maybe it is possible.
I found this episode. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Im6VOnXH60o
Thank you. I will check it out.
The last one makes me think of The Stepford Wives. Too much perfection can definitely be stifling. I rather like the idea of mannequins and museum models and such-like having their own lives after humans have departed from the spaces – I just don’t want to witness them doing it.
I witnessed a lot of housewife perfection angst in my younger days (real and on TV such as in commercials). Ugh. As for secret mannequin lives I would love to visit with some off-duty figures. I bet the conversation would be about the most interesting thing I have ever heard.
I love the images of the mannequins after midnight!
Thank you. I have loved mannequins since I was young and when my mom was shopping I used to think about what their real lives were like when people were not around.
