In the Snow and Mist
My
oh I’m perfectly fine
drifts off into the frost
I have no proof
he ever thought of anything
other than the relief of hearing my voice
but
as always
I cannot be sure.

oh I doubt that
I thought, putting down the phone
but there it is
what can you do?
I have no way of telling
from this distance
and these days I’m not sure
I still care any more.
