Experiencing
Submerged into
Introspection
Drawing lines
on paper
Loneliness
is everywhere
I sit at the kitchen table
writing in my diary at midnight
The refrigerator groans
I am not lonely.

Your poem is poignant but also suggests that idea of reframing one’s circumstances in order to be more optimistic. I do think loneliness can often be a state of mind rather than about the literal isolation. But maybe that is because I am an introvert and quite like being alone?
I totally agree that being lonely and being alone are not the same. If I don’t get enough alone time, it has bad effects on me. For me, not being a night person, midnight is kind of a magic time of the day, since I am so rarely there!
To me midnight is the muse’s favorite time – that’s when inspiration strikes!
I’m not a night person, so if I am up at midnight, it is a special experience for me!
