counting its days
in laundry cycles
it hopes to survive
asks for
just one more wearing
and then
maybe
just

more?

Claudia McGill Writes Poetry, Did You Know That? 
I feel like this could be a portrait of some of my husband’s t-shirts. They don’t get to live forever but do get reincarnated as household rags.
My husband is very hard on his clothes and I have marveled how he can make a t shirt go from new to utterly limp and threadbare in about a year or less. I use them for art shirts or like you, rags. He would wear them through into holes if I did not take them away from him, he doesn’t seem to notice.
