Favorite Cake Pan
the memories of the wheat and fat
left behind by the previous bake
Each cake is cooked
and constructed by its own whims
but always it is guided by its ancestors
and their voices preserved in the metal

I really enjoyed this poem and everything it says about the lives and history of objects.
Thank you. I’ve always thought about how my well-used tools and objects gain experience as they work and they become partners.
Love the idea of the cake memories informing the future cakes!!
Yes. I remember my grandmother’s cooking pans. All beat up and scorched, some of them, and every one of them knew what to do with all that experience to make another great meal. I still think about her cooking.
