1000.
So long awaited
this hope in the scissors’ cut
that severs. Good-bye.
5/20/22
1001.
the broken necklace
the click the slip of the clasp
over and over
5/20/22
1002.
crumpled and smoothed out
sugar-dusted gum wrapper
falls shiny side up
5/20/22
1000.
So long awaited
this hope in the scissors’ cut
that severs. Good-bye.
5/20/22
1001.
the broken necklace
the click the slip of the clasp
over and over
5/20/22
1002.
crumpled and smoothed out
sugar-dusted gum wrapper
falls shiny side up
5/20/22

These are all wonderfully observed but I especially connect with the first one. The snip of those scissors might feel harsh and abrupt but it is often so necessary.
Thank you. It’s not really related to the image in this poem but I think of when I am painting and I have a favorite area in the painting that unfortunately later in the process works against the whole, so it has to go. This is the feeling I get, hope and yet some regret.
The first one made me instantly think of cutting the umbilical cord – long anticipated but at the same time signals a letting go…
Yes, I think so many experiences have elements of progressing, yet that means giving up or saying goodbye, the sweet and the bitter coming together.
