Shadorma 372, 373, 374

From Writing Notebook 2021, published in 2022.

372.
obsolete
as of five PM –
that’s me. You?
No better?
Not in a forgiving mood,
this Tuesday, is it?
10/2/21

373.
Ten minutes
and I’m still gasping
This vile strong
black coffee
Ten sugars please stir quickly
Can you save my life?
11/12/21

374.
Love and lies.
How you test my heart.
Please, you say,
forgive me
Wry and charming always works.
This time I say No.

  1. All three of these poems strike me as being about exhaustion – physical, mental, and emotional. I like the way even the staccato structure supports the idea of fatigue. As someone who is really running on fumes right now, I find these poems very relatable.
