Shadorma 304, Tanka 186

From the collection published in 2021, The Immediate and No Sooner.

Shadorma 304

Shrugs broad shoulders
stands modest.
The T-square
real nice job you did. Ceiling fits
flawless on the walls.

Tanka 186

in a light rainfall
off down the hill a mile away
the train whistle blows
a tired and sorrowful voice
worn down around the edges

  1. I really love the poignancy of the second poem and I think the first poem is fantastic. Seeing a T-square as a broad-shouldered person is so perfect.

    • I have always thought the T square looked like a person ever since I first saw one, and I also think it looks like a brace or else those items that are used to hold up ceiling drywall as it is being nailed in.
