pulled close to table
breathes a word
in its ear
so slight a whisper. Makes sure
the plates do not hear.
The straight lines

I’ve wondered if the dishes ever talk to each other – now I know it isn’t the dishes that are the gossips!
There are cliques in every environment. Go ahead, open the cabinet door suddenly, and I bet the plates will have sheepish looks at being almost caught.
