Shadorma 289, Haiku 826

From the collection published in 2021, The Immediate and No Sooner.

Shadorma 289
5/28/20

Lightning strike
from the white sky
Summer glare
turned sullen
flipped to angry. Asphalt streets
steam in pelting rain.

Haiku 826
5/28/20

Raises her right arm
signals out to the darkness
Her face impassive

  1. Your first poem perfectly captures the atmosphere of a hot and humid stormy summer evening and how funny that you posted this poem from 2020 today after yesterday’s will-it-won’t-it storm watch.

    • Thank you. I am often struck by how I post a poem and it fits the day, even though it was written some time before…Hmmm…Do I have influence with the universe? (I think not, I think it is because I try to match the time of year the poem was written with when I publish it, but,…it is a nice idea…)
