Rose bush dressed up as a potato. That sounds like something I could put on a dating profile. Ha ha! I really love the ambiguity of the first poem. The spark of recognition could be the start of an exciting reunion but it could also be read as a poignant moment of lucidity from someone whose memory is fading.
I can’t stop laughing at that dating profile idea. Now that could be a person I would want to know.
I loved the rose bush dressed up as a potato too! Kind of the silk purse from a sow’s ear in reverse!
Yes, a pleasing modesty, maybe? Or not raising too many expectations and then WOW!
