in the steaming grass
the cow knee-deep and
green shade at fence edge
a ways away and
the uphill field steep
the sun hot the cow
scowled and swished its tail

A wonderful description of a hot summer day.
I see the cows at a farm near us almost every day and I like to watch them. Surprisingly a lot goes on in a field of cows.
So true.
Evoked memories of my childhood….
Me too. And now in the suburbs of a bid city I live near a farm with cows and I love seeing them outside in the fields. Really takes me back.
