These are wonderful haiku. They really capture the image/idea.
Thank you. I really like trying to create a picture or emotion that is visible in haiku, more and more, I find, it is an image that starts me off.
These are all very successful in communicating an emotion or feeling. I have been thinking a lot lately about the subject of your third haiku. Given that the lower half of our faces is usually concealed behind a mask, I have been discovering that I can have non-verbal exchanges with people just using my eyes and eyebrows.
Yes, that is interesting to think about, isn’t it? I find I pay much more attention to people’s eyes now too, rather than looking at their whole face (since half of it being covered, it is of no help in expressions) as I used to. I find it hard to look at peoples’ eyes, though, I feel it is too personal, so I have had to change my ways some, since the pandemic.
I have the same problem with looking at people’s eyes too much. It feels very awkward. I let my focus switch between their eyes and their forehead when in extended conversation.
I always looked at their mouths. OOps, not possible now. I know a lot about different kinds of masks now, I guess.
I am always complimenting peoples masks these days in the way I used to compliment jewellery.
I love that last one especially. (K)
Thank you. I love the idea that some things are wordless and yet there is a language to it.
