As much as it may be true that we also “eat with our eyes”, the important thing about cakes and any baked confections is that they taste delicious and have a pleasing texture. The visuals really are a secondary concern. Or at least that is what I tell myself since my cakes are often lopsided and my ability to decorate is limited to the basics.
And you know we have all had pastries or cakes that look super and taste bland, dry, or waxy.!
Oh my goodness, yes. Every single time I have been in France, I have selected some baked delicacy that looks fantastic and tastes like boredom and exhaustion.
Yes. We buy things on how they look, they know that, and pour resources into that, when I’d be happy with lopsided and tasting really GREAT!
I can relate to the cake! I too try not to worry!!!
