Haiku 910, 911, 912

From the book The Immediate and No Sooner, 2021.

Haiku 910.
a very small town
a broken-down acquaintance
faithless friends’ cruel snubs
12/7/20

Haiku 911.
it can be arranged –
a pint of ripe strawberries
a love triangle
12/7/20

Haiku 912.
a romantic man
like many others he writes
awkward poetry
12/7/20

  1. These are all deft little snapshots of relationships but with very different angles and atmospheres – longing and yearning, the promise and excitement of a new romance, the fracture lines of the breakdown of a friendship. I have lived the pressure of #910 by living in a small village. Friendships could only really devolve into strained acquaintanceships but no further than that because, in such a tiny community, the fault lines of a proper falling out were massive and consequential.
