Tell It
and in detail
to the disapproval of everyone
sitting at home in the evenings
with nothing else to talk about but
all the lights on in the kitchen over there and
glance out the window
but what could you expect
when the telephone rang and rang
and she wouldn’t take a message
call back later
You’d have thought a shy nervous
plainly not telling the truth
I just want you to know
I don’t gossip. No, I don’t.

Claudia McGill Writes Poetry, Did You Know That? 
I have always worked hard to not engage in gossip. I seem to be one of those people that others want to gossip to but I choose to just listen and not be an active participant. Other than to my husband, I don’t think I have peddled gossip in my adult life.
