A few new: Snippets 376, 377, 378, 379

I’m not sure how much time I will have for poetry work this week so I thought I’d get these little guys lined up for today. I like to keep a trickle of current work coming out each week, and who knows, maybe I’ll have more later if time permits.

I worked on these snippets over the last week or so. I sorted through my cut-out print phrases and words while sitting on the sofa watching TV and let them form themselves, almost.

376.
It was not
a waste of memory
But the forgotten knitted together.
11/30/21

377.
ambitious marrying’
purposeful glaring
lukewarm sleeping
And cautious plotting
11/30/21

378.
Tell me what’s changed
tell me who needed the money
tell me who was willing to smirk.
11/30/21

379.
There was no sense in
the eccentric outline of this
angular afternoon

  1. These are all terrific. The final one makes me think of that sense of a day getting away from you, that the shape of the day you intended has morphed into something you can no longer deal with.

    • Thank you. Yes, I think days have shapes and angular ones have challenges, like driving in a dense neighborhood with lots of streets. The way you describe it is perfect, something pulled on the grid and moved it out of shape. Badly.
