Claudia McGill Writes Poetry, Did You Know That? 
The first poem made me laugh because one of my kids was always losing shoes in bodies of water when he was really wee. Many times I have waded out into a loch to rescue a shoe. We lived over 90 miles away from a shoe shop otherwise there are definitely times when I just would have let it go.
We used to do some canoeing and you needed a pair of old sneakers to wear, because canoeing involves some wading. And then there is always the person who somehow loses a shoe during the trip. OMG those pebbles on the bottom of the creek shallows can hurt!
