College Professor Running Late
Portly fellow
Blue tie blown over his shoulder
Rolling gait. His tote bag
nods against his right leg
an asymmetric rhythm
whose tempo is set a little too fast.
The clock on the wall
is calling the steps.
He wheezes.

A vivid portrait!
Thank you. I enjoy people watching and seeing if I can get my impressions down in just a few words.
Yes, it’s a fun thing to do–and you do it well.
Thank you, what a nice thing to say. I am that person at a party sitting on the edge, I enjoy being there but not being taken notice of. In life, I am an observer rather than wanting attention. That has added up to a lot of info I have gathered while just doing my usual. Writing gives it all somewhere to go!
I am the same way–definitely the observer.
I love that detail of the bag banging against the leg like a metronome.
