Strategic
Alarm raised
angry swarm speeds out
stingers aimed
and ready
yellow jackets in pursuit
of me who disturbed
their armed camp
by mistake. A stab
to my wrist
I am hit
by one skilled fighter. Chased by
dozens more. I run.

I like the way you describe this encounter as a type of combat, with attack and retreat. My husband was stung several times over the weekend while doing some yardwork. He must have disturbed an underground nest.
I am feeling for him. Wasp stings are so potent and the pain and later the itching, so intense.
