All in a Day’s Work for Somebody

Phone call Door installation appointment
cancelled The installer in a traffic accident
He is fine but the truck is totaled
I don’t ask whose fault it was
or say Just curious would you fire a guy
who wrecked your company’s truck
as I picture a load of doors and windows
crushed glass glittered on the street
boxes full of shards rattled to the tune of
falling downstairs or
a china cabinet turning over, maybe
None of this I mentioned
though I wanted to I just said
I would be fine with a new appointment
on Friday.
