Car-Washing Neighbor
Out early before it gets too hot
the neighbor two houses down
stands in his shady driveway
unhurried and methodical
he wipes a sudsy white terry rag
across the driver door
of his sister’s blue Mercedes
the running hose in his other hand
dousing his sneakers

Totally glad you don’t live in my neighborhood. But good ‘poem’
I am not a good car washer. I do it very rarely and instead rely on deluges of rain to do the job. I once lived next door to a chap who washed and polished his car’s exterior every single weekend, dedicating hours each time to the job. I often wondered if seeing my car in the drive next door made him feel squirmy.
I’ve never been good at keeping my car washed either. And…I just don’t care much, aslong as there is no trash in it or actual mud or the like inside.
As teenagers we loved washing the car. And we weren’t even getting paid for it. (K)
I hate washing the car. Strange because I enjoy washing a lot of other outdoor things (the chairs, hosing down the porch, etc.)
I don’t think I would love it now.
