The Status Quo Flexes and Assumes a New Shape
She bee number one
out in the rain
evicted
a has-been queen
whose swarm strings out behind her
but alive with a chance and
alive
is always
not dead. Meanwhile
The new queen inside the hive
begins her work
while the spiky red flower heads
quiver in the rain and
thunder tolls
its warning

I cannot even begin to understand the segues my brain made when I read this poem but I will share with you that it made me think of Henry VIII and his revolving door of doomed wives.
I think that you’ve actually come up with a perfect match. I love it.
