Divergence
what small peace
I want in this life
a night’s sleep
no dreams but
exhausted oblivion
in velvet silence
what small peace
I have in this life
pouncing dreams
ambushed sleep
vision-filled dark hours taunting
with their raised voices

Wonderful poem. As someone who is a lifelong terrible sleeper, you capture and convey those feelings perfectly.
I sleep well pretty much every night, but as I am getting older not as well, and more oftn I wake up and it takes time to return to sleep. I am grateful for my mostly peaceful nights and the ones that are bad, I really feel for those who do not sleep well.
