I love the way the lemon cookies are a metaphor for those people who can be sweet on the veneer but sharp underneath. In Scotland we call them “nippy sweeties”.
I love that. Nippy sweeties is a fantastic description. I have always liked lemony treats – I don’t like oversweet things and I love the tartness of a lemon glaze, say…
That is another thing we have in common. I also love sour sweets. My favourite when I was wee were called Soor Plooms which had a very sharp apple-like flavour.
I always liked lemon drops. Just simple lemon drops. The apple ones you describe, hmmm, I would like to try them.
