That second one really resonates with me. I think time does hew us into a more authentic version of ourselves, smoothed off, things that we once considered of more significance simply chipped away.
Yes. I feel that as time passes, it wears us down, but it also exposes the essentials to us, as the extraneous falls away. Some life circumstances do this faster than others, but it always happens.
