Some Dignity Remained

Some Dignity Remained

With these hard untrue words:
I like your
hair-do
sunglasses
political opinions
inquiring spirit
homemade strawberry pie

you picked me up on your tusks
tossed me
and my ego with a big hole in it
out of your way
applying that neat concise stroke
before
you let me lurch out of here.
I will take that strawberry pie with me,
please.

  1. You know, I have always hated the “sticks and stones” rhyme because words can be incredibly cutting and damaging. There are definitely times in my life when I would rather have had a quick punch land on me than to have heard some horrible remark levelled at me.
